Very excited about the whaler scene. Looked at a 1962 13' with a 40 yamaha. it;s an original boat with a little fiberglass damage. The motor does not have trim and it seems fairly clean. Asking price is 3500 but not sure what these are worth? Also has a decent trailer. Thanks in advance!!! Jon

A couple things will effect price..

Where is the boat located?

Where was it used fresh or salt water?

Was the boat stored in the water or on a trailer?

Have you weighed the hull to see if there is water in it?

What year is the motor?

What is the compression of the cylinders of the motor?

What condition is the interior wood in?

Is the wood oiled or varnished?

What year is the trailer?

You say there is little fiberglass damage? What type of damage is it? Is there foam exposed?

Is how bad are the spider cracks?

Is there crazing occuring?

These are just some questions that would help if I was to be making an offer on a boat like this. 3500 could be a great price if the boat, motor, and trailer are in good - great condition.

Hi Jeff, those are great questions and I don't know many of the answers. Based on age and it being unrestored, a 4 out of 10 condition and decent maintenance-What would be a ball park worth. I have seen some mid 80's and early 90's for 4500- 5000. I'm thinking a 62 with a non trim motor would be 2500 max-I am completely new to the whaler scene so just looking for a range. Just don't want to loose money in a few years when the kids want a bigger boat. I really would like to get the most whaler I can for up to 7500.00 Thanks, Jon

I would go for 2500...

however if you have $7500 you should be able to find a 17' or maybe 18' that with a little work would be a much better boat for a longer time. If you are already worried about out growing a 13 keep looking for a bigger boat.

Where are you located / looking?
