Would anyone know where I could find a diagram for this? We need details on the steering spool as well. The boat has been in or family since 1980 and has the original 1977 Johnson 35. Very low hours and well maintained.
Most 13' re-habs that I've seen, have replaced the two cable system, with the new single cable system (you'll need a new sterring wheel, they have many types now). the older pulley system is hard to get parts for, tangles, slips, needs re-winding, is a pain in the #$$. The newer (single cable) system is more reliable, steers better, and easier to replace. The cable needs replacing every few summers because, the 13" is so low to the water line (great stability), that splash back from the motor, onto the cable is almost always present. Swapping from the old system to the newer one is very straight forward, AND SAFER !
Thanks for the advice, and I agree with your comments. I was just trying to get the boat in the water with the existing system on (pulley) and then upgrade next year.
Just can't figure out the right way to wire around the hub.
