Thanks for everyones input and recommendations regarding the repower of my 86' 18' Outrage. I finally made a decession on what to go with and picked it up last weekend with its new 2009 E-TEC 150. Now I am waiting for nicer weather hear in CT to really enjoy it. It really looks great hanging off the back of the transom.
If you are half as pleased with your ETEC as I am with mine then you are going to be one happy camper! Congrads and lets all hope for good weather soon so you can give us a full report
I just pulled my all winter project, a Whaler 190 bare hull out of the project shop today and delivered back to the dealer for the required first starting...an E-tec 115. I agree that the more diminutive physical size of this engine choice vs. the equivalent HP, but larger and heavier engine choices...just gives the boat a great look rather than a big clunky thing.
Time will soon tell about the real issues of our choices...performance, reliability, quiet, hassle factor (oil reservoirs, etc.). I really do like the Hondas on my smaller Whaler rigs.
