ANY help, or suggestions???... My brother took it out here in Charleston, SC, and OBVIOUSLY didn't wash it off well enough; the salt water must have "ate away" at it...
Any trailer shop should be able to get an axle for you. If it's not a boat trailer shop, so what....they will order it or manufacture it for you.
Once you get your new axle, spray it with the rubberized/tar based undercoating you can buy at Wal-mart. I did that to my axle two years ago and it's holding up well.

There are also many places to order from on line like the one below. Matching up your current one to the correct new one is the hardest part (other than installing!)
