Member Posts: 1607 Comments: 9 Joined: 05/09/07	The model number breaks down this way, the J is for Johnson, 70 is HP, T designates Electric Start, Trim and Tilt, L is 20" model, ER is the model year E-9 R-4 and V is the model run. If you can remember the word INTRODUCES you can decode the model year this way, the I=1, N=2, T=3, R=4, O=5, D=6 and so on... Dave - 1983 Outrage 22
