It's too bad no one commented on your question. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the new one or I would give you some input. I think it's pretty good looking and I have considered it for future replacement of my 13 Sport. Most of the folks on this site like the older boats. Mine is a 2001 and that's pretty new for the people here. I'm landlocked in the midwest so, We don't see any other Whalers very often, and never where I live. As a matter of fact, I think mine is the only one in my state.
Hey Tim, I just got word that the proud new owner of a 2009 150 may be at our gathering in July. I spoke to the salesman this week and he said that they discussed it and thought the guy was leaning toward joining us. It's a red one. He just ordered it. BTW, I'll email you an update on the gathering.
Thanks for the input. I was hoping for some feedback from a 2009 150 owner who also had some experience with a 17' hull. I'm considering purchasing my first Whaler and it's down to a new 150 Super Sport or a used Newport with a new 90hp motor. I intend to use it on a very large lake where conditions can get quite rough as well as a large harbour. I want to be as sure as I can that I'm buying the right boat.
Well CB, we may have the opportunity to give you some opinions in a few months. If Troy is right, several Whaler fans will be able to see the 150 in action on a larger lake. I have piloted an 18' Crownline there and felt swallowed up in the chop. I will be taking my 13' there and, hopefully, won't feel too out of place with my little tender around boats all larger than mine. If I can just get my wife to take the ride without giving up due to the chop.
Troy, if that's the one Mau Marine had ordered, I see why he stopped emailing me about it. That will be a good boat for me to see. I hope they are giving rides!
Thank you all for your input. I bought the new 150 Super Sport yesterday. Good price (except for the Canadian $ value) and I understand they're in short supply. I'll take delivery soon and let you know how it performs.
