I have a small problem, so I figured before I start surfing the web for a new company, I would ask you guys first. As you know I am going to re-power the 87 Outrage with a new E-TEC. Problem is, Geico who I have now will only insure the motor to if it gets stolen or damaged, quarter of what its worth. So, I dont want to put a $12,000 motor on and only be insurd $3000, can any one advice me a decent company that wont kill me on rates !!

I have "State Farm", they'll cover you ! not expensive, about $200, "Sea Tow" has insurance available as well.

I have Progressive on my 3 boats and have been happy with them. Last year while in Bimini, a guest on my boat plugged in the shore power while my generator was running. The switch on board that allows the shore power current to run to the electrical system was "on". Nobody asked him to plug it in. He thought the was being "helpful". It was an accident and the power surge fried my generator.
The generator was a 2003 Westerbeke 5KW. Progressive replaced it with a new generator, -0- deductible.
I was extremely satisfied with their service. In addition. Progressive sells uninsured boater coverage. This would cover you and your passengers for injuries in the event that an uninsured boater collided with your boat and injured you or your passengers. Neither Allstate nor State Farm sell that type of coverage.

I've had issues with GIECO and that lizard everytime I have used them in the past. They'll gig you every chance they can to keep their money. I used USAA and it's a great company to use.

you might want to check with your home owners carrier...I use Home-Owners for car, house and 2 boats w/ trailers. They add it to my Home policy as a personal atricles declaration...in a flat dollor amount for physical damage to the boat and engine, plus an emergency towing and aid @ $150 per occurance...

even if you own a "Row Boat" you should at least have a $9 a month "Liability" on it.
