But I like also the good mid eighties outrage 18 ( not simply to find here at good price) What do you think about the difference beetwen the two hulls. I need it to go fishing and sun bathing in mediterranean sea . Every 2 cents is well come. Edo

While the Outrage 17 is a great boat and an improvement compared to a Montauk, an Outrage 18 is a bit better. I take my boat in the open ocean and it handles more than I can. In the US, the price difference between a Outrage 17 and 18 is not much so I would go with the 18. It is just that much longer and a bit wider. Renzo, a member from Venice had a sweet 1990 Outrage 17 and now a larger Outrage 20. You may want to email him since he knows the Mediteranean. And is the place for sunbathing of the Outrage 17 of the same dimension of Mountauk? I have find a good outrage 18 with twin 75 hp 2 stroke Mercury of the 1999 but i think they are too much gasoline addicted. The 17 I have found have a 100 Yamaha 4 stroke injection this are the photos http://www.bubbleshare.com/album/369856/overview What do you think about? Will I appreciate the difference from my Mountauk in the chop?? It costs two times my old Mountauk with 1999 johnson 737

While I needed to slow down in the Montauk, I don't in the Outrage 17. The Outrage 18 is even better since it is longer and wider. For comparing the bow of both boats, see the last photo on my personal page (link below) The Outrage 17 is only 5 inches longer than the Montauk but has a completely different hull. It is also a bit wider. Moving forward around the Outrage 17 console is easier since there is more room and the rails do not sit inside the gunnel. The Outrage in the photo looks close to original. The bow has a special lounge insert. I think this is a European specialty. This is the 4th Boston Whaler I have seen with one. Renzo had one too. The only item that is not original is the plates behind the steering wheel. See My personal page I agree the Outrage 18 will use more fuel than the Yamaha 100 4 stroke. Specifications Outrage 17 I (1990-1995) in Feet Length: 17' 3" Beam: 6' 8" Draft: 10" Weight: 1020 lbs. (standard configuration) Max HP: 150 Min HP: 75 Internal Fuel Tank: 63 gallons The Outrage 17 is a good boat and so is the Outrage 18. I don't know how expensive each is for you. You think the anterior sun bed is the same dimension on the montauk and on the outrage 17. I will pay about 16600 $ for the 17 and 19200 $ for this 18 (photo here http://www.bostonitalia.it/web/details.php?barche_ID=111) An important thing the 18 can go until 12 miles from coast the 17 only 6 miles (italian Law!!)

If you want a better ride and a bigger bow area, the Outrage 18 gives you both. The downside is the one you said (twin 75 2-stroke) will use more fuel ...but will handle 12 miles from the coast. If you want to keep your next boat for a long time, buy the Outrage 18. If you think you will only keep your next boat for a few years, get the Outrage 17. I have read many who fish more than a few miles from the coast want twin engines for safety. If one engine breaks, the other will bring you home. The link you gave me - bostonitalia.it gave me the Boston Whaler site in Italy and not a photo of a Outrage 18. However, I don't think anyone here could tell you they wouldn't want an Outrage 18 if they wanted to move up in size... unless they don't have the garage or storage space and possibly don't have a large enough tow vehicle. I would say buy the largest Whaler you can comfortably afford and maintain without it being a burden on you every time you want to take it out. Whalers do tend to keep their value if they are taken care of so it's not like you're throwing your money out the window.

I sold my first BW 17 Outrage last year for buying a 20 Outrage. What difference mainly in terms of inner space! I definitely suggest U to buy not less than the 19'. In fact, altought the hull of the 17 Outrage is absolutely different and very funny on waves, in terms of space compared to the Montauk the 17 Outrage is maybe smaller! I bought my BW20 last year. I had to search everywhere around Italy, from sicily to Milan. At the end, I've found the boat at "Centro Nautico Tigullio", Rapallo. Last year i known every BW from 19 to 20 for sale in Italy!!! Member Posts: 52 Comments: 0 Joined: 01/17/08	Hello guys, and ciao ragazzi, As I had immagined the 18 I have found is better for everything on the water except for gasoline consumption, fishing at low velocity, storage in my box and on my trailer and probably in future the two strokes motors in Italy will be forbidden to use for pollution. This saturday I will prove the sun bed of 17 with my girlfriend, she is not too tall.... may be the space is enough for us. In this period of my life I will use this boat about 10 times for year only two persons at time me and my girlfriend to go around to swimbathing and me and a friend to go to fish, and the 17 can go on my trailer and probably also in my box. In italy Boston and gasoline cost much much more than in USA so is difficult to find a good boat like a 18 or 19 hull with a good 4 strokes engine and when you find it you will pay a lot for the ensamble.
