I'm looking at a 13' sport that has at least three coats of chippy paint on the topside and the bottom is painted with anti-foul paint. Can anyone tell me a ballfield figure to have it soda blasted? What did others pay to have it done?
I had a bid to remove the anti-foul paint off my 17 Montauk. Soda blasting that came to my location was going to run me $400 which included a trip charge since I live 65 miles from the city.
A great alternative is Pecan blasting. I got a quote for the same job and it was $250 but I had to drop the boat at the shop. The major difference is that they reclaim the used pecan material and can use it again. The soda method has no reclaim option so you are paying for the material you use.
Most of the companies charge by the foot for bottom paint removal. There will be additional charges for the top side. Also be aware that you will probably have gelcoat work to do, once they are finished. How much depends on the state of the gelcoat before it was painted.
