To those who've replaced their tank in an 18 Outrage or similar. Did you find water in the tank cavity? Did you re-foam after replacing tank? If not, what happens to the space formerly occupied by foam? Did anyone install a bilge pump? Did you need to make the tank a little shorter to make access to pump easier?

I replaced my tank a couple years ago. There was water in the tank cavity, and boy did it ever smell bad under there. I shortened the tank by about a foot and put a bilge pump in the space that was created. I didn't foam it in solid, so that water could travel by the sides and beneath the tank to the sump area at the back of the tank. I've no regrets so far. My old tank was pitted with lots of pinholes in it that let water in, I think from the incursion of salt water into the tank cavity. I lost somewhere around 7 gallons of fuel capacity.

Jeff and a few others installed a pump (no-prime) for their cavity.

While you can foam it, many recommend attaching spacer blocks (starboard like material with 5200 fastcure) to allow air to circulate.

Suggest you do a search to read the many articles discussing options and recommendations.

I plan to block my tank and not re-foam when I get to it.
