I am searching for various antenna mounts. I would like to take my amateur radio hobby on the boat. I would like to find a mount that is made of nylon or plastic and will mount to the rail. However, from my initial search from what I found, marine antenna mounts are of the 1in-14 thread type. I would ideally like to use a more typical mount used in amateur radio which would be a 3/8 x 24 thread type.
Have you tried a local CB shop or a Loves truck stop to find a mount? I see the truckers mount their CB antennas on their mirrors all the time......and that would not be much different than mounting an antenna onto a railing in your boat.
