The tank in my 1990 18 Outrage was painted a tan color. I notice some tanks are unpainted/silver. Was this something new done by Florida Marine/Whaler?

Dan -
Is the tank original (date stamp on the label)?
In reading threads on tank replacements, FMT currently sells tanks bare or with a coating as an option.

I thought it looked painted tan, not the raw aluminum color.
Do you think I should be concerned because it's 20 years old?

Old farmer saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"....
If the tank is not leaking, then there shouldn't be any problems.
My 1985 tank is original and still has no problems...
Will it leak someday...?? Maybe. Maybe not...
Just make sure you have a good fuel/water separator to protect the engine.
