We had record low temps in Iowa and all over the midwest early this morning. I drive across a valley to get to work and it is always several degrees colder at the bottom. This morning that meant -36 degrees on my car's outdoor temp unit. Back up on top of the valley edge it was about -26. Officially I think they are saying -21 degrees. This really makes me look forward to the first day I can get the Whaler on the water. I hope you guys in warm weather country are coping okay with all the sunshine and high temps! Grin

High supposed to be in the mid-60's this weekend with plenty of sunshine so we'll head to the bay on Saturday. Ya take 'em when you can get 'em.

Last weekend the wind from the NW was so stout that I saw some boat ramps with no water (not to mention it was just a mite on the cool side)!

Been catching some nice specs (speckled trout) on artificials this 'winter'. If we get any this weekend I'll post the pics so that our breathern in the Northern regons can have something to dream about.

God Bless Texas! Though it's cold here in Dallas today (High of 42), like Bob mentioned, it will be in the 60's this weekend with the temps next week in the mid 70's.

Looking forward to seeing your specs Bob.

Troy,

I had the same experience in Nebraska this morning. I stopped by Cabela's and Bass Pro. I picked up the Saltwater, master Fishing and full line catalogs and kicked my feet up in front of the fireplace.

We have a few months of ice and snow. That gives us time to visit the gargage and polish our boats into perfect shape. When the southern boys are dodging hurricanes, we will be trolling for stripers, fly rodding for largemouth and spooning for pike!

Winter is the time to complete the honey do lists so we can concentrate on fishing for the rest of the year!

You said it brother! BTW, about six months from now would be a good time for our Midwest Whaler gathering. I'll PM you. It's good to hear that you guys in the sun belt have been getting your boats wet!

It will be at Okoboji. It's a nice set of lakes in northern Iowa. It's a really scenic group of lakes with good services. Looks like July 18th will probably be the date but it's not totally confirmed yet. I have a lot of ideas, but will no doubt be asking members here to help with some ideas for the gathering once it is all set. I would love for some of you folks from out of state to come in for a little Iowa hospitality.

Troy,

Looks like July 18th would work. Maybe we ought to see if and how many others would be interested in a north midwest get together. For others, the choice of Okoboji is partially because there is a BW dealer on the lake. How many from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin or elsewhere are interested in a rare get together for Whaler owners in this part of the country? I know there are several owners on that lake, I'm not sure how to inform them.

We had 6*F this AM, high 0f *19F, their was some snow and ice (just enough to cover the ground) we found a double humped drainage ditch cutting down a hill through the woods and had some rocketing sled rides out across the frozen meadow. AWESOME !

For me,
Spring will be;
Where the heart is Troy..
And as Barry does suggest having a look;
And for me walking all around the hull of My Girl while feeling her side gives me a promise of things to come.
It is my hope that I am not getting to corny here but as am matter of fact It is a common and daily occurrence here in my preferred corner of the World.
Springs and it's promises await.

Dont lie
Dont Cheat
And dont give up..

Well put Serge. Tim, I spoke to a friend who has a home on the lake and he developed a quick list of 9 other Whaler owners on the lake that he knows well. He spoke to two already and they are in. I will get to you on email about the details. As for the rest of you, watch Randevous Central for updates. I will be making an e-file that's like a flier with the details. Mark your calendars if you are anywhere close, (or far) because it's going to be a great time!

Now as far as spring goes....I think I will take the advice of Serge and go pay a personal visit to my boat!Grin
