The flared end on the outside of my transom drain tube came off with my drain plug. Is there any way to fix it or do I have to replace the whole tube? I don't want to have problems with water leaking into the hull.

Thanks

You need to replace the tube, with either brass or PVC, a simple job.

You did not say what type of boat you have. Each one is probably different. Here is the numbers for a montauk.
I purchased the new PVC tube parts from a whaler dealer.
Using 3M 5200, it has been on for over 5 years.
Montauk part # 1073071 for tube
# 1042084 for nut.

You need to replace the whole tube. It is an easy chore and if one tube needs replacement, the others cannot be far behind. Do them all at once.

Here are some guides to the replacement:

It's a 1978 Montauk. I measured the length at about 12". I was having a hard time locating that length off tubing locally, so I called my local BW dealer and he suggested using the current plastic drain tube/fitting. He explained that I'd need to ream out the hole a little bigger to allow the fitting into the transom around the tube.

Anyone have any experience doing that?

Thanks!

Can't say I have any experience with the new plastic fitting, but would love to see a picture of the pieces if anyone has them.
