Looking to trade a very nice original 70's RPS (complete) AND NOS Red Ritchie Voyager compass for an original pair of Captains chairs/bases/aluminum mounting plates (actually, I don't need the chairs, just the bases and plates) I'm switching back to the original set-up on my Outrage. I kept the seats, but lost the pedestals and mounting plates somewhere.
The captains chairs were standard equipment on the early Revenge series throughout the 70's and I think into the 80's.
I'm throwing in the Compass for good measure.

The chairs I have are by Pompanette, as were the bases. These were used in the 70's. 2 7/8" pedestal, 9 1/4" base which sits in a larger aluminum plate screwed to the floor.
PS: I think I meant Explorer Compass.
Thanks for the couple of responses. The bases I'm looking for were made by Pompanette. They mounted to an aluminum plate. So each seat actually has 2 pieces to mount the pedestal- the pedestal itself and the aluminum plate it sits on. I didn't think they would be has hard to find as they have been. They were pretty common in the 70's. I think almost any Boston Whaler from 73 to 80 with captains chairs used this system. Definitely standard on Revenges of this error. -Paul
The 1975 Outrage 19 that I recently purchased, stored barely used for over 30 years, has exactly what you are describing, the twin pilot/fishing chairs by Pompanette, and still in factory original condition.
see here: (this is the best photo I have at the time - some other photos on the page also show parts of them)
According to the original purchase invoice the seller gave me, on the 19 Outrage at least, they were a 50% mark up option over the cost of the standard RPS. They have the side arms, center mounted fishing pole gimbal, and side arm mounted rod holder. Upholstery is Whaler tan pleat with dark brown piping. The 2 piece bases are as you described.
I have considered removing these from the boat and offering them for sale, and replacing with either an RPS which I already have, or the original cooler base seat from my 21 ribside, which was also a 50% mark-up option for these boats.
As of now, with the boat stored for the winter, and yet to be sea trialed by me, I am not able to definitely decide I want to sell the entire assemblies, and deal with holes in the floor, etc. But if I do, in the Spring, I will let you know, if you are still looking for this equipment. With new RPS's going for $1200, I would probably want $1500 for these practically brand new, perfect condition, units.
Those are beautiful. If nothing comes up before the spring, and you decide to sell, I'll definately take them. Please let me know as soon as you decide. Thanks, Paul.
Thanks, Paul. I will give you first shot at them if I am going to change them out.
In this 19, I have raised the console 4" on teak blocking as I always do, and because of that it seems the chairs are too low. So they will either need higher pedestal bases, or I will install an RPS raised 6", another thing I have done on my other boats.
But one thing is correct, with the cushioned arms, they are extremely comfortable, a feature women like, and can be rotated 360 degrees to catch the sun, avoid the wind, etc.
I think one of the Whaler accessory catalogs on Tom's CD shows this factory option in detail.
