Here are some photos of an original 15' whaler from the Model Specification page There are several owners who have changed the boat and added a center console so it is not surprising. Personally, I like the rails and stern deck. Regardless, the 15' hull is a very good model and many desire them.

I have a Montauk 17 and I want to upgrade to an outrage because in mediterraneo sea the wave are more short and more frequent than ocean and the Mountauk hull is very hard on it. Which is the minimum hp engine for 1986 Montauk to go in safety? now I have a 40 hp 737 OMC.

Do you bring gear, supplies? I have observed most (3 of 4) Montauks in the USA have a 90hp with the others having 70hp motors. This is not to say a 50 is bad. It depends on your need/want for speed. I have read an owner report his Montauk with a 50 hp 4 stroke will cruise in the ~20kt range comfortably. He is very pleased.

Member Posts: 52 Comments: 0 Joined: 01/17/08	I use the boat 50% for sea trip (2 -4 persons) 50% for fishing (2 persons), with 100 liters of gasoline Now with my 1999 Johnson 737 the top speed is 30 Knot (me and my slim girlfriend), but when the waves became important I have to moderate a lot the speed for my bones. I could go 12 miles from coast for fishing tuna. As I said when I find a good occasion I want to turn on a outrage 18 - 19 , but for the while could be a good idea to change my old 40 with this 50 fourstroke or more and less is the same?
