.So my previous thread (now deleted) attracted readers but no replies. I found a pic of a vertical pedestal seat mount for an older Whaler but I dunno if they are still available. The Whaler factory web site lists a pedestal seat as an option on the new Montauk 150 so they may now be available.
The original Classic seat and bracket are NO longer available.
The photo you show is of the newer style but should work as long as there is a backing plate.
Actually I had looked for photos but somehow missed them. I did just find the customer service number for BW in Fla. I talked to a nice guy, Chuck, who told me that the engineers are presently finalizing a design for a similar vertical mount to be offered as an option in 2009 (I had read that was coming) but that the design has not yet been approved. He advised me to call back in February or so to see what's available.
I asked him what material is between the outside wall of the bulkhead and inside wall of the anchor well and he said it was a very substantial phenolic material as strong as aluminum and should be plenty secure for just tapping into and not requiring a drill thru and backing plate. We shall see, I guess.

Edit: Just off the phone with Sue at Twin Cities Marine and they stock them. I will receive mine in about two weeks. What a great lady to do business with.
