Anyone ever use stainless drain tubes or will it crack when trying to flare?

I don't think you could flare stainless, too hard. Even the brass you need to heat/cool or it will crack.

Agreed, stainless steel is much too strong to form a flare with the simple tools we use.

PVC is the easy and permanent way to go. I can`t remember the exact size, but I remember it was thinwall. Just take your plug to the hardware store, and see which tube it fits in.

just did this a couple days ago, easy as pie. I was scared to do it but I felt pretty stupid when all 3 took about a hour. I used 3/4 and will get 3/4 plugs. I had to do very little reaming of the existing holes as well. pvc and some 5200 is all you need. I left about 2" on all the tubes and will cut and sand them down once the 5200 cures which may take all year in the temps we've had recently!
