Over the summer i intercepted a 13' whaler from the dumpster. It was ran over by a car and had alot of damage. It was owned by the NYFD at one point. I took the task on and have been repiring it with my son.
The Vin # is BWCN 1698 A191 and its rated at 20hp.
It seems the 13' whalers are all rated at 40hp.
The Boat is 13' 6" and is rated for 6 people or 900 pounds.
Can anyone tell me what year or model this whaler is?
Thanks, Andrew

Boat was built in January of 1991 as a 91 model year. If you have the Comercial Division version of the 13 it was called 'Utility' as a model name. The boat was rated for a minimum of 10HP and a max of 40HP in 1991. Model is depends on the interior, did yours have any when you got it? The one shown in the commerical division had bench seats and a fiberglass console.

Andrew.
Welcome to WC!! We sure would like to see pictures of your boat as you found it....and then you can create a project album and keep us updated on your restoration progress.
Happy New Year!

The boat had no console but there was some wood that looked like it was a bench. I still cant figure out why it was rated at 20 hp. I'm trying to post some picks but no luck yet.
Thanks for your help.

My guess is it was originally sold as a tiller model. You can email Chuck Bennett with the HIN and get the info.
