I wanted to thank everyone for the advice on converting my Striper to a Montauk. I was researching and looking at pictures of Montauks in order to come up with ideas on how to set the boat up. I came across a Montauk '81 about 8 1/2 hours away from my home. The price seems good as do the pics. I researched the boat and everything seems to check out. He's going to buy my Striper and I'm going to buy his Montauk.
We leave in the morning. My 6 year old son is going with me and he is as pumped up about it as I am. I took some pics of the Striper so I can post them to the site, as requested by some other members. I'll post pics of the Montauk as well when I get it home. That's my Christmas present!
A new bike for Christmas ! WAY COOL ! Don't ya love these boat's, they make you feel like a 9 yr old kid again, I remember every minute of picking up my "WHALER", it was in water, and I showed up with a new trailer, I had to pay an elderly woman $5 to use her "Ramp", LOL, I was so excited that I forgot to bring the rest of the money with me ($2,100) after the($1000) down payment, Thank- God that "Dad" was with me, I would have lost the boat ! Enjoy your new Whaler !
