I am mounting a Yeti Tundra (45 qt) behind the helm in my 13 Sport on the textured floor surface. Yeti has some robust tie down components.
There is no plywood in the hull below the chosen location. Can I simply drill into the hull for the two tie down brackets (each require four #8 stainless screws) spanning a couple of square inches at each end of the cooler. I would use a silicone sealant to prevent water from entry.
I want this to be tough. The cooler will weigh as much as 100 lbs. when in use. White caps on the Missouri River can be tough going.

Having seen what screwing something to the floor of a 13 will do to the fiberglass and gelcoat here is my suggestion.
1. mark and drill your holes
2. Take a hex key and cleanout some of the foam making sure you extend under the fiberglass.
3. take Marine-Tex or West System and fill the hole. Make sure you fill from the bottom using a syringe so you totally fill the hole.
4. Once cured, redrill in the marine-tex for your screw.
The marine-tex plug should distribute the force over a larger area then just the screw into the fiberglass/gelcoat

Where do they sell Marine-Tex? I have only used a Spectrum Color patch kit for small scratches, nothing else on this boat.

This might work but the glue is expensive.if you don't want to drill in the hull.
Btw kinda of a neat site too.

Thanks for the reply Guts. Those look interesting. I've thought about having some 1/2" thick delrin plastic pieces cut out that could be bonded to the floor. They could serve as stops to precent sliding as well. the tie downs from YETI are really nice. They could mount on those. YETI has a corner stop that could be glued down as well.
Another option, very different, is to cut out the seat adjoining the console and replace it with the cooler. YETI has a nice cushion for the top. The cosnole would have to be mounted differently, but that could be an improvement.
Yet another option is to just get a different boat!

I recommend you move to the 170qt Yeti and a 25' Outrage (see Personal Page)...no tie downs required when loaded with ice and a few large fish.

I will probably use the cooler tie downs to hold the 36qt cooler I slide under the RPS

Texas Outrage. OK. I'll trade what I have even up for what you have. Like the shack and the accessories!
BTW, catfish get pretty big up here. 100+ lbs. Your cooler might be too small!
