Has any of you ever used these inspection hatches from West Marine, made by Bomar?
I'm looking at replacing the wood in my center console with plastic.
Thanks

The Guardian and other Whaler commercial models use these style of hatches on some of their consoles.
I think it is a personal preference item on whether to replace your hatches.

That looks good gigem! Is that the same hatch that West Marine carries? or is it a different company?
Thanks!

I bought a couple of hatches from flounder pounder marine. The side door is a whaler oem part. I think the one I bought for the front was off a Hewes I had to change my cut outs a bit, but ended up with much better acess to the console. This is for my project 19 I do not have a finish coat on the console yet but you get the Idea of how it looks.

yes I thought I attached them correctly. I thought there was just a delay in the picture getting attached I will try again. I think the size of the photo might have been the problem

I like the front hatch I bought because it does not hinge. It lifts out of a slot in the bottom. Look around the surplus places you will find a better price than buying new hatches at boat stores. Flounder pounder has the side doors from newer whalers on his site most of the time. The trick is to find a front door that matches. And thanks for the cool comment. I think it is cool to put a little new school in on an old school project. Did you notice the new gauge cluster also off a newer whaler console.

I did notice it. Your console looks really good! I like the idea of mixing some of the new with the old. I'll keep looking and hopefully I can come up with something that'll be cool too.
Thanks
