Hey guys - I have been restoring a 1972 19 Whaler - For those unaware of my project you can see it here...
http://www.whalercentral.com/forum/vi...rowstart=0
I am getting the whole boat regelcoated. I am leaning towards desert tan .... but the color options are unlimted at this point. I just need to be sure it goes well with the Red Rubrail.
Please post your poll opinion - and if you chose other post here with what....
Thanks!
Scott

I would go OEM. Just like the look.

There is a 13 in my area that is a light blue with Red Rail and lettering - It looks really different - Im not sure if its not overbearing because its so small though.... Maybe a photo shop expert could show her in different colors -

The thing is whalers are timeless. In other words they look great finished off original or custom colored. When I finished my 1980 15 footer project with a coat of fighting lady yellow people would ask me when whaler started putting yellow on there boats. If the hull is nice enough to finish back to original go with OEM colors. My project hulls have always been real projects. To me it is like a painter with a blank canvas. My current project is going to top off with a coat of aqua mist. I suppose after all that my vote for your boat is OEM colors.

My hull is getting refinished.... But I am also putting on modern power, etc so keeping it 100% original is not my goal.

The quote I have from the gelcoat shop says sandstone or something like that - but the color didnt matter - The contract reads they will spray a test panel for my approval.... I just know I do not want white.... I really and not sure what Outrage Grey really looks like - my boat is pretty faded - but it seems a bit white.

You know, I wondered the same thing about what the grey would actually look like as I've never seen one, which is why I voted for the Desert Tan. Does anyone have a pic they can post of the grey for reference?

Jim, Is it a picture allusion or just it really appear to be an off white in person?

My 1978 21 Revenge/Outrage (have to come up with a catchier name for this one) seems to be 3 colors. from the rubrail down it seems to be white, from the rubrail up on the outside it seems to be a different shade of off white and the interior seems to be the grayish color. The outside color I plan on awl gripping in egg shell and the interior non skid areas will be done in graystone which is almost a perfect match for the factory gel coat color.

One or two photos in an entire thread is plenty.
Now we are up to 5 in this thread.
No more please.
