Do you know where I can get the bright blue mooring cover? I have a generic cover now and it fills with water.

My brother in law has a mooring cover for a classic 17 that he would sell. For some reason it was bundled with all the blue canvas that came with the new to him Outrage 25.

We scratched our heads for quite a while, trying to figure out how the Mills cover fit on the 25. Then we remembered that the previous owner of his 25 Outrage had owned a 17 Montauk previous to his ownership of the 25. This had obviously laid in a pile with all the blue canvas for the 25. When my brother in law took possesion of the 25 and the pile of miscellaneous canvas, the Mills mooring cover for the Montauk went with it.

I don't know what it is worth, but, except for being a little dirty, it is in perfect condition. Post back if you may be interested and I'll let him know.

Doug

other options:
custom made covers fit better but, where I am, there's a canvass guy on every corner (Long Island), there may not be many where you live. I only cover the seat on my 15' sport, everything else gets a heavy coat of car wax, and is designed to get wet, I live close to the water so checking to make sure that the automatic bilge pump is working is not too difficult. I keep spare fuses on the boat, and a spare bilge pump and float at home, so a fast repair in the rain is "Fairly" easy if you don't mind getting wet once in a while when there is a failure, most of the time, a little "Rule" 500 g.p.m bilge pump, and a float, do all the work. A friend of mine w/ the same boat is a "cover freak", everything has a cover, he often jokes about how when it's raining in the middle of the night, he sleeps well, while I'm up wondering if the pump is working. My retort to him is always "Twenty minutes to get under way waiting for YOU to uncover the boat, nice HUGE snaps ya got there on the Hull, it looks like the rivets on the "Williamsburg Bridge", LOL.

I have not had a chance to talk to my brother in law yet about his cover. I have a call into him, but he is busy putting up hay right now. I will check back with him.

I talked to my brother in law (Matt) today. He would like to clear $400 on the deal. That means shipping and packaging would be added to the total cost. I called Mills. They told me a new one for a Montauk is $830, plus shipping and packaging. Mills said that Montauks from 1971-1996 all use the same mooring cover.

Matt said that he thinks the tag on the cover had a date of 1984 on it. He will double check that and get back to me. If you have any technical questions about the cover, it would be best to call Mills or visit their website.

Thanks,
Doug
