I have 1968 17' Sakonnet with 2007 Mercury 60HP Fourstroke. Propeller size recommendations? I purchased this boat, used, in 1970 with a 55HP Homelite.

Give the Mercury site below a try, they have a good prop selector tool and are pretty much the leader in prop design.

An additional factor is the engine mounting. What is the location of the engine's anti-cavitation plate in relation to the bottom of the hull? Typically, a good position is 1- 1/2 inches above the bottom of the hole.

This is reflected in the engine's top set of mounting bolts being in the second or third hole from the top when counting down.

P.S. Show her off by adding some photos to your personal page.

We need to know if the 2007 Mercury 60 HP Fourstroke is a standard gearcase model or a Bigfoot model

I forgot to mention in my 11/9 posting that I have the "Bigfoot" gearcase on my 1968 Sakonnet with a 2007 Mercury 60HP Fourstroke.

OK, a 2007 Mercury 60 HP BigFoot on a Sakonnet will want to have a 13-3/8" x 14" Mercury Vengeance propeller on it.

You can expect to see a top speed of 30-35 MPH.

Thanks for the prop advise but I'll have to wait till next spring to try out the prop size you recommended. I'll try the Mercury Vengeance 48-17314A6 or the Quicksilver Silverado QS5114X (13 3/8" X 14"Wink
