help iam looking for the thread on waterlogged foam diagnosis and the CURE along the same lines the great article on drain tube replacement with air hammer forming. thanks chris b
There is lots out there on wet foam. Drying it can take a really long time with minimal results depending on the saturation. I think most with really wet foam have just replaced. Give me a bit and I'm sure I can track down some threads on that.
(I think Blue Northern did a serious dry out on his outrage conversion project. You may want to try using the search page http://whalercentral.com/search.phpsearch.php to find the forum posts about that process.)

The diagnosis of wet foam is fairly simple, take the hull to a scale and weight it. Published weights for whaler hulls are available and generally include standard hardware, console and seats but do not include rigging and engines.
As for the cure, it depends. you can drill holes, stand the hull on end and wait for years but most of us aren't that patient. depending on how heavy the hull, you can choose to do nothing or choose to open up the hull, pull out the wet foam, refoam with 2 part structural foam, reglass and regelcoat.
