I just bought a 13' rage which needs to be wintered. What do I have to do? Also would like to no where I can get a service manual for this engine. The engine starts but is very slugish until it warms up. This boat has a temp gauge but does not work. Any suggestions. Is there a fix to stop this boat from porposing when there are two people in the drivers seat.
Thank Max

You probably want to have a shop look over your motor if it isn't running well. I have a 13' with a Mercury, but the drill seems to be the same. Attach a garden hose to a cooling water inlet adapter for your motor and turn it on. Put STABIL brand (or equal)stabilizer in a tank of fuel per directions on the bottle and run the motor 10-15 minutes. Disconnect the fuel line and run the motor fuel dry. Pull the spark plugs and spray cylinder fogging spray (get it at any boat parts place or hardware store that sells boat stuff) into the cylinders (it prevents rust or oxidation over winter). Turn over the motor a little to distribut the fogging. Pull the lower unit oil drain and open the upper drain plug on it. Get a bottle of lower unit lube and a pump with the correct adaptations for your motor and pump it in the lower hole until it runs out the top. Put the plugs in quickly before much runs out.

One caveat. I have a Mercury motor. You say you have a Yamaha. I'm trying to be as helpful as I can. Any of this information is worth exactly what you paid me for it.

The other way? Take it to a boat service place and pay them $$$.

I hope this helps.
