Console seat back cushion with integrated rod holders?
I really like the look of this setup. Does anyone have this on their boat? Are they comfortable? Any problems when rods are in the holders? Any visibility problems when driving with rods in front of you like that?
Where could I buy these?
Thanks!

The rod holders with cushions are very prevelant on classic Montauk and Outrage models. Unfortunately they are no longer commercially made. Aftermarket brands may fit but the measurements may be different.
I have read/seen a few members fabricate them from stock material. Joe Kriz (I think?) made them at one point.
The cushions are available thru Halls Nautical in the matching fabric/piping. When ordering, state you have the rod holders since the side flaps are longer than the cushions for non-rod holder applications.
I think Specialty Marine also carries the cushions if non-OEM materials is desired.
Fritz, my neighbor has this setup on his Montauk. He told me that he never uses the rod holders because they are in his face while he is driving. And if there are rods in the holders you are unable to sit back on the cooler. I love the look of this setup, but it seems a little unpractical. Now I am just going on what I was told, so I could be completely off base. Great classic look, though.

I have had this setup on all my Whalers for the last 20 years.
The rods never bothered my vision while running.
Certainly the reels are in the way if you have passengers that want to sit up there.
However you can move the rods to other locations while underway so people can sit up there.
Generally, a person either fishes or cruises. If you go cruising, then you won't take along the rods and reels.
You never have to put rods up there if you don't want but the cooler with the seat back cushions is great for passengers.
I wouldn't be without this option in any of my Whalers.
