Just bought a 1997 20' Dauntless bow rider. The trailer is for a longer boat. The bunks sit about three and a half feet out from the back trailer frame. The back of the boat is sitting three feet out from the frame with six inches of bunk showing. I cannot use an engine support bar and also cannot use rear tie down straps. Will it hurt anything to use the tilt bracket while trailering a long distance? I have a 225HP engine.
Also if I put a strap over the boat towards the rear, from side to side and down to the trailer. Would this action do any damage to the hull from the strain.
can see nothin wrong with placing a strap over the stern from side to side. As far as supporting the motor, I would try to tilt the motor up and then lower it back on to a block of wood, but most mfg recomend that you not trailer with the tilt bracket lock.
