I launched my 1973 Cohasset/1966 Homelite before sunrise in Port Washington air temp. 32 F, water 60 F. Parked the truck and when I got back to the boat the back third had water in it!! Plan B. Motored out of the harbor, got the boat up on plane and ran straight out a couple of miles until the boat had emptied and no traffic around so I could leave the helm to install
the drain plug. Then I idled down to rig poles and watch the sun rise.
Didn't catch any fish but it sure was pretty on the big pond.

I think we have all done that at some point in our life. Usually you can catch it before you pull the truck away and just run up the ramp a bit. Always happens when you are not doing your normal routine -- every time I change they way I do something I have issues.
Example 1: Put my lowrance cover in the seat back one morning instead of in the truck. Fast and rough = no more cover.
Example 2: Put my brand new wading net in the rod holder. Did not take into consideration the much shorter handle. Fast and rough = no more new net.
We all have our follies -- hope sharing makes you fell better about it. Sounds like it turned out nice anyway.
