I'm very happy to report that i've taken my 22 out 4 times now, and the thread titled "problems with my ETEC, tell me its not true" are done. After 4 trips out and an assortment of variations of motor use, i've had no over temps. Today i did the usual idling out of the canals, to the intercostal, ran past the JFK bridge, and through the remainder of the channel till i reached Corpus Christi Bay, and i continued, and ran for a solid 30 mins at 4000 RPMs, and a little over 30 MPH, with no issues. On the way back, had following seas, and ran even faster, with no over temps...........case closed. Totally user error, got to watch those O-rings.
Glad to hear the problem is solved -- sorry to know that it took you multiple trips to the mechanic to figure out it was something so simple. I would rather feel confident in my motor than worry about the few trips taking it in for diagnoses. So it will be offshore time soon!
Very good to hear, and thanks for the updates as it's always very helpful to know what the successful solution to the problem ultimately was so that others with the same issue can benefit.
And speaking of benefit, is there any to keeping the larger intakes on there now that you know what the problem was?
