Hi everyone, new owner of a 1979 Montauk and need some part #'s. I've done a lot of reading and searching and it's all starting to blend together and I'm in a bit of a hurry for 1 item, looking at paying express mail, lol.

I need the cooler chocks for an Igloo 94 qt cooler- in a hurry. Part # from Whaler or if possible I would LOVE the wood ones but I have no wood working skills. Anyone make them on here? How fast? Cost? Any other options?

The cover for the cable exit (from non-skid) in the stern. Odd shaped piece of teak that screws in. Where to get a teak replacement. Other options? Whaler part#?

Last, I have the rod holders on order (Hall's had a contact) but the cushions will be here way ahead of them. Could i fab a quick box with the rod holder dimensions and bolt that to the center consloe to attach seat backs on a temp basis? What are dimensions of the wood on the old rodholders?

Thanks in advance, I need to order ASAP.

Hello PCBrev and Welcome to WhalerCentral.

Congratulations on your purchase of the 1979 Montauk.
I had a 1978 Montauk for 15 years and it was a great boat.

The original wood style Cooler Chocks are no longer available from Boston Whaler.
Most people make their own or have them made from these drawings by Tom Clark.

Tom Clark has drawings for both the 86qt and the 94qt cooler.

The sump cover was originally made of 1/2" Teak Plywood.
I don't remember the exact size but someone else will know for sure here.
Again, this is easy to make or have someone make it up for you.

The Console Rod Holder drawings are also available on this site.
I don't think I would build a box though, I would wait until you get the rod holders.
There is a drawing in the "Articles" section on this site for the placement of the Console Rod Holders.

Good Luck and enjoy your Montauk. Maybe post some photos here so everyone can take a peek.

Paige,

I have some 1/2" teak plywood. If somebody will measure the length of the sump cover, I can make one up for you and mail it to you.

I am curious, what is the rush?

Thanks guys, got a member working the chocks using Tom's drawings.

I'll measure the sump cover next time I'm at my local BW dealership.

LOL, the hurry is that I am launching on Sunday for the 1st time with the family and if I dont have the cooler and seatbacks installed for my wifes comfort I'll hear about it. Spent a few dollars more than we had planned so I need to prove the cost of the cushions/cooler was worth it.

Will post link to before and after photos soon. Thanks again guys, PCB

If her butt is sore sunday night mine will be sore next week, lol. Just kidding but you get the point. I want it to be right.

If someone can give me the size of the Montauk Sump Cover, I will make a drawing and add it to the Download section.
I just added the drawing for the Outrage 18' Sump Cover available for download here:

I found a Montauk Sump Cover in my basement in my pile-O-parts. The measurements are:

7-7/8" wide

9" long

1/2" thick

Forward corners radiused 1/2"

Partial roundover on all edges.

Note: Surface Grain runs the long way (fore and aft)
