Outfitting a 13 ft whaler

Member Posts: 1 Comments: 0 Joined: 09/13/08	I bought a surplus 13 ft whaler, probably 1960's era, from a friend. I repainted the inside and am ready to put on the 40 horse Johnson outboard that came with it (motor has been checked out and works well). Is there a steering and seating kit for these? Also, how should I make sure that motor stays on ? There are just holes in the transom, no brackets or anything else. I don't know what is needed. At what price? I don't know much about Whalers, yet.

If it is the original motor it might not have holes in the bracket for through bolting to the boat. If it is a later model with holes, bolt it on. If not make sure the clamps are tight and check often. Is the motor tiller or remote steer.? rich Rich
