Hey there all,
So with a little of your help I now have the 18' Dauntless 2002 so I'd like to thank everyone for the support. The trailer ran (new) about $1600 with rollers and various hitch bits and spares. (Dave's - Glen Burnie, Maryland)
So here are two for today.
I need or would like to have a console storage key. Are these key specific or all generic? Where can I find one? Dealer only? (no big thing really)
From time to time last weekend I got a chirping noise. Is this a warning that the engine isn't down in position or something? It happened only twice when preparing to tow a tube but had us scratching out heads. It's a 135HP Mercury OptiMax otherwise everything was great. It happened only twice when preparing to tow a tube but had us scratching out heads.
Thanks
Mark

On the storage key, you can more than likely go to most hardware, building supply stores or boaters world and find a lock that will replace the original one

The storage key/glove box key can be found in any marine supply
catalogue. I just replaced the 3 on my 22 ft. whaler - you can even buy them keyed-alike if you have more than 1 compartment

Mark,
Replacing the lock might be the easiest and cheapest but a locksmith can easily make keys for it for about the same price or a bit more. A replacement might not be suitable for marine use unless you get it at a marine store.

It seems like any dealer can either key this or get me the new lock so that's taken care of. No sign of the chirping but I suspect it's from the dash and not way back at the engine.
The D18 refuses to disappoint so a big THANKS!! to all for the help realizing that the boat was a good fit.
She really is loved already. Here's some photos from trips down the Potomac to Mount Vernon and Lake Anna, VA as requested.
Off to read the wealth of info on VHF Antennas.

Maybe this comp. photo is too small but here goes. I had to serious reduce these to fit the specs. Photos of my baby - the boat!
