I have a 1989 17' Montauk that was just repowered with a 115 HP Yamaha 4 stroke. Plenty of power for sure. I got advice from numerous sources before the repower and the bottom line came to this- there is a +/- 30lb difference between the 90 hp and 115 hp motors. Everyone said go with the 115 and have power to spare instead of the 90 and running wot to get the same results. My question is in regards to the effect of using Dolphins or some other brand of add on fin. Do they help hold the bow down and keep a good bite in the water in choppy seas and high speeds? Are they even worth messing with? Thanks for any input-
