I just purchased a new 50hp 2-stroke Yamaha (w/o prop) for my 15ft Sport and was wondering what the best prop would be. The boat does not have a tach or speedometer so I'm looking to make a good educated guess. I usually have a load of about 500# and do a little tubing and fishing so I guess I need something in the mid range. Appreciate any help!
What RPM range is the motor supposed to be at? For example my 1987 70hp Mercury is between 4750 and 5250. I turn a 13 by 19 prop at 5100 rpm's so I'm right where I need to be.

I plugged your figures in to the mercury prop selector and it recomended an 11 pitch prop, but my Yamaha 40hp 2-stroke uses a 13 pitch prop so I would think that the 11 is to low of a pitch to use.
