I plan to install a water separator on my 15. Likely a 10 micron Racor unit with a clear bowl. Any recommendation regarding mounting location? I've read the thread recommending the front of the splashwell for 17's, but I'm not certain there is enough vertical clearance on the 15. Also, what is the best fuel line configuration as far as quick disconnects and permanent connections? Aside from the quick disconnects at the engine and portable tanks, should all others be permanent, or is it okay/preferable to be able to remove the other hoses? Right now, when not in use, I store my tanks and (drained) hose/bulb in a shed. Last, I've read different opinions also on bulb location - between filter and engine or between tank and filter?
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

The fuel bulb should be close to the motor, and in a vertical position, The bulb works better and priming is easier in this position. I use a stainless filter housing. Just mount is in a place where you have easy access, and it is not in the way.

Look at my personal page and you can see how I mounted one on my 15 Sport. Hope this helps.

I have taken some very good shots of my "mini" Racor system and its location under the rear thwart of my 1982 15, with Pate installed, removed, and new custom aluminum fuel cell remounted in original holes. Also, I have very good shots of the breakdown from one year of use with the Pate, and amount of crap caught by the filter and clear bowl. My Yamaha tech. has never shown me how much was making it to the fuel injectors.
I have recently joined this site and was planning to ask for assistance starting a personal page, but will now wait. (I am very computer challenged but believe that I can email them to anyone interested).
I also have a spare custom aluminum fuel tank for sale. It is identical to the one now mounted in the 1982, and was originally ordered for my 1988 15, which is now going to be a center console (consul?). Hope I can help. Michael.
I am in Bluffton and see you are from IOP.

Thanks guys, missed ya Bink. I'm really looking forward to getting a personal page up. I think that I can offer some pretty cool stuff to the mix. Everything here looks good and maybe a little more casual. I'm in. Michael.
BTW, "looking for a 70 or 90 2 stroke leftover/repower with LOW hours and MINT, preferrably a Yamaha and only run in freshwater!". Bueler?...Bueler?...

Thanks for pointing me to your pics ioptfm, they are helpful. And a beautiful 15 at that.
Zotcha, looking forward to your pics also. The water separator will be a winter project. Getting a new trailer has jumped to the top of my list.
The list that has no bounds...
