I am installing a water pressure gauge on my 2009 90 hp ETEC. The instructions provided with the OMC gauge do not adress the new ETEC's very well.

Before I drill holes and cut water pipes Has anyone plumbed a water pressure guage that would be able to provide some comment on their experince, approach and pictures.

Thank you for any and all feedback.

Not sure if the 90 is different from my 175HP, but all I had to do was remove a plug from the block and install the pressure sensor, then hook it to the EMM. What gauges do you have with the 90?

I am using the Tech series gauges. These are the old style analog gauges that use the water tube to the gauge.

If I may be so bold, what you describe is the approach that is used with a sending unit that is used with the digital I-series gauges.

Thank you for you response.

I installed one on my 60hp ETEC and like Kamie, all I had to do was remove a plug, inserted the fitting that came with it, ran the tube up to the gauge and that was it. I think all of the water pressure gauges work with a tube running from the block to the gauge. The only electrical on mine is for the light.

The Tech Series gauges are current gauges for the E-Tec series engines.

There are several current series.
1. Tech Series
2. Commander Series
3. I-Command Series

I believe kamie has the I-Command Series.

I do have the I-Command Series so everything is done thru the EMM, which is why I ask what gauges you were using. If you look at the Evinrude site, they have parts diagrams you can use to show all the cooling hoses. I would review those and splice into the hoses at the recomended location. I believe they want you to splice in where the water exits the block, since your looking for the pressure coming out of the block. If you do have the plug already drilled, you may be able to get a plug and run the tube from there, exactly like tom did.

Thank you for the responses. Unfortunately, I do not have the boat accessible to me until the weekend. I will search one more time for a port in the water jacket.

If anyone happens to have a picture or can take a picture of where the port is located on their ETEC series motor, any help is apprecieted.

I will post any of my findings.

Thank you for everyone's comments.

The water pressure sensor on my 175 is below and to the left of the battery connection to the block. It was a plug screwed into the block, unscrewed the plug, screwed in th sensor, attached the cable to the emm.

I installed a WP gauge on my Montauk w a 4 stroke 70 Evinrude/Suzuki. Instructions were to heat the tube with a hair dryer before connecting to gauge, and was that good advice! The tube splits every time it is pressed on to the gauge fitting, unless it is heated first to make it more pliable.

I completed the installation of the water pressure gauge for the Evinrude ETEC 90. There is a brass fitting located on the starboard side of the motor just below the lifting eye.

The process was straightforward by replacing the brass fitting with the barbed plastic fitting included in the gauge kit. Route the tube and dress it out to complete the job.

I have pictures that I am trying to attach . I have been unsuccesful in all my attempts. If someone can instruct me I would be happy to complete this thread.
