There are two plastic inserts a the pivot point on the backrest of my 1996 Whaler Outrage II. They broke this weekend and the "stealer" told me that whaler only sold the entire back rest as a part for $229. Does anyone know if these inserts may be available by themselves?
If I can't find them I may just spend an extra couple hundred to get a more updated helm seat perhaps with a built in livewell.

The RPS for the 1996 - 1999 Outrage 17' II was made by GG Schmitt & Sons.
I would contact them and see what they have available.

Here is the only info I have on them.
GG Schmitt & Sons, Lancaster PA. & Bradenton FL.

If you can update their info, please post it here.

Thanks Joe...I went to their website http://www.ggschmitt.com/ and gave them a call. Their current "Deluxe Pilot Seat/Leaning Post" has a very similar design to the one in my boat with a few changes but the part that broke on mine appears to be similar. The guy who would know will not be in the office until tomorrow so I will hopefully hear the good news then. I'll post back with parts info if it works. Cheers

It's not a difficult part to make if you strike out with the manufacturer. Any shop (or friend) with a lathe should be able to turn a couple up for much less than $229.

The part # is 25711-4-RP and they are $20 a piece if anyone else runs into this problem. Thanks again.

Hey Joe..I emailed you photos of the parts. Please let me know if you received them. The parts took 5 minutes to replace and work great.

Note: the original inserts were white and the new ones are black but it's not really noticeable and the new ones seem to be made of better plastic.

Email resent

The photos are high res so if there are attachment size issues, let me know and I will reduce the size and send again.
