We are getting a 175 Suzuki 4 stroke engine on our 1987 22ft Outrage. Does anyone know if this engine will be powerful enough???

Does anyone have this combo?

I have seen 150 to 225 hp engines on 22' Outrages. I photographed a 22' docked in Woods Hole with a single 150 hp Honda fourstroke.

Hello,

I just repowered my 22 ft Whaler with 150 hp Etec, the performance is fine
for my use on the Long Island Sound. The boat tops out at 39 mph by the
gps at wide open throttle.

I'd be interested in the performance of a 175 hp on an Outrage 22' as I have one that will need repowering soon I'm afraid. I currently have and like twins and have thought about two 90 hp motors. So if 175 works for you I would like to know.

We got the boat back in mid August w/ only a temp. tach from the dealer. The SMIS gauge was on backorder. After the breaking she was pushing 40mph compared with 44mph, but I didn't want to get on her too much. Fuel usage is great about 40% as compared to the old 200 johnson. Now that I have the SMIS gauge I'll be testing out the gph/mpg to find my sweet spot. The motor is mount in the 3rd bolt hole and I'm planing at 18-19 mph as compared with before trying to hold 20-22mph. I may have some results in a couple of weeks. The weathers been a little snotty lately.

This is a follow up to my last post. I've been fishing at location [+- 10 mis round trip] that I use to use 7-8 gals and only using either side of 3 gals per trip depending on the sea conditions.
@ 4350 rpm, 26 mph, 6.9 gph = 3.76 mpg.
At the present time we are very satisfied w/ the DF175 Suzuki and will report on a complete boat test next June or July when we have the boat running in the calmer back bays.
The SMIS gauge is really sharp, glad we got it. We have a 15 1/4 x 19 prop and with 2 people + 1/2 tank of gas max out @ 40.5 mph, with plenty of power.
