Hello -
Just looking for an honest opinion. I am thinking of purchasing a used 1994 24ft outrage for 36k. It was just switched from twins to a single 2008 300hp etec this year. He said the motor alone with install cost 23k. The guy said he did this to save on fuel costs. It has less than 30 hours on it so far. He also added digital i-command tachs. It also Comes with outriggers and a Garmin GPS and Fishfinder, plus a magic tilt trailer. Does this seem like a fair price or should I be looking elsewhere? thanks Jim

He is close on the price of the engine. That still leaves $14k for the boat and trailer. Depends on how clean the boat & trailer are. I think $36K is a little high in this market.

Probably very economical with that E-tec 300 motor. Why is he selling right after repowering it? Seems odd. I agree with Harley on this, price seems abit high. Its a buyers market as nothing is really selling. 30K sounds about right if everything is clean and working properly...just my 2 cents...

A repower and then sale does happen. Could have been due to cutting back debt load, moved etc.
The prior owner of my Outrage bought a new trailer, Mills bimini, VHF, GPS/Sounder and Yamaha 115, 4 stroke. He sold it with 20 hrs to buy a World Cat (catamaran style) boat.
I thought it was odd. Then I figured how much I was saving and bought it.
Jim - When looking at the price, I would consider dealer cost for the engine and any other new items. Shop around on Boattrader, Yachtworld, etc for similar year 24's and then see.
This is a very soft market.

I agree, does sound a bit high. Being a buyers market, you're in a good position to bargain if you like the rig....

I had the same happen to me with Raggedy. Owner purchased a new 2006 225 Etec, brand new aluminum trailer and then put it up for sale for less then the cost of the trailer and motor. Decided he wanted a bigger boat.......worked for me!!
