mercury 40 prop nut torque / washer

Member Posts: 1 Comments: 0 Joined: 07/07/08	I just bought a used merc 40, 1990, 4 cyl, 2 stroke , o.b. I have rebuilt the water pump and ready to re assemble. 1 .What is the torquue psecs for the prop nut 2. does merc use a washer in between the prop and nut ? thanks

Member Personal Page Posts: 2012 Comments: 0 Joined: 12/19/05	Don`t know anyone who torques prop nuts. Just put a short piece of 2x4 between the prop blade and the cavitation plate, and tighten it, kind of like you tighten a lug not. Im sure a washer is involved. rich
