Just as a point of reference, I use a 13 X 19 inch stainless K series yamaha prop on my 17 BW. The prop turns the engine (90 yamaha 2 stroke) at 5200 RPM with a light load. Reads 42 mph on a gps. The gear ratio is 2:1 Hole shot is pretty good. My engine is flush on the transom... I hope to raise it a hole or two.
I use the boat for cruising, water sports, and fishing. If I were to try to pull a heavy slalom skier it would be a struggle with the 19. I would switch to my 17 spare. However, I did pull a 230LBS wake boarder up last week will no problem with the 19. I use the 19 almost exclusively.
I am sure you have many choices.... I would stay away from props designed for a bass boat, these are designed to run close to the surface and provide significant bow lift. I tried a 19 inch Michigan Wheel Ballistic with only fair results... MAX 4900 PRM... Kind of a radical designed prop to begin with...
What do you use today? what RPMs?
Hope that helps...
