I have a mid 80s OMC single lever control. The overheat alarm is gone and I want to replace it. I dont think they make it any more. Anyone know where I might get one? A website?

Thanks

Not sure which overheat alarm you are referring too.

The "Warning Horn" which sounds when there is a problem is still available.
The "Thermostats" that sense the overheat problem and send the signal to the Warning Horn is still available.
So which part are you looking for?
Almost all parts are still available from 1973 and newer.
See this article:

For parts availability, see BRP Online Parts Catalog here:

Im looking for the warning horn which is inside the control unit. Not the thermostat which is on the engine.

I will look through the BRP online catalog...I looked quickly but couldnt find the control... I'll look closer.

Ok, I found the part. Now, where do I get it? Do I order it direct?

Thanks

Yep, call any BRP dealer and order it or stop by your local BRP dealer if you have one and see if they have it in stock or will order it.

There may also be an upgraded part number and the dealer can tell you that.

I'll call around.

Just got the boat out of the shop... didn't replace the horn but had to replace a faulty kill switch on this same control. My local mechanic (OMC factory trained) is very good... but expensive! I hope all are as expensive! I always walk away wondering. What can you do? eh, that's boating!!

The other thing I've done is punch the part number into a search engine like Google, there are a number of dealers that sell parts over the internet at prices more reasonable than you may find locally....
