Hey All,
I attempted to buy a 1960 18" BW, it was on e-bay..outbid! so i purchased a 1973 13' from a shop in Wilmington NC....Then the fella who owns the 18' calls ..ask if i am still interested, apparently, the buyer stiffed him..Sooo, i now own 2 whalers,i ordered all the interior pieces from Specialty and its a work in progress.BUT, the 1960 18' ( which apparently belonged to Buster Crabb) has been somewhat converted to a work boat, it is missing a lot of original hardware - wood - ect...i looked and cannot find any references to a 1960 18'? don't have the paperwork yet,but where can i start looking???
Any and All help..suggestions ect, are greatly appreciated !!

There is no such thing as a 1960 18' Whaler. Can you describe in a little more detail what it is you have? What is the actual overall length?

Yes, that is the boat..I didn't think there was a 1960 , after perusing your spec's page, am going to pick it up today...hopefully with a little sandpaper i can uncover the HIN's....More to come.

Ah. That is a 16 footer, not an 18. It could well be a 1960 model. Find the Stenciled serial number (not the HIN. HINs were not in use until 1972) and that will tell the tale.
As far as I can see, only the side rails are original Whaler parts.

It will be in the bottom of the bow locker or the inside of the transom in the splashwell.

Looks like a 61 or 62 - The numbers ranged from 3000-3999

Yes, I agree, #3507 is a very early 16'-7" Whaler, 1961 probably. We will not be able to know much more about it than that because Whaler does not have solid records going back that far.

The only original parts seem to be the bow light...side rails.Found original layout, although it is pretty, doesn't fit my needs, will be using her for limited offshore and inshore fishing.I do intend to re-paint the hull to Fighting Lady and topside to original blue...that is after cutting open the topside's and removing ALOT of foam,She's over weight by 241LBS thats alot of water!!!!Film at 11:00...
