I want to purchase a 40 hp suzuki for my 13 footer. the big question is how much difference will the 243 lbs make vs. the 180lb original engine. i could use some advice. thanks bob
Add 63 lbs of weight in the stern (as far back as possible) to see where she sits. Maybe a few bags of sand (in trash bags to keep dry) from the hardware store. Save the receipt and return them when finished.
Yes the weight is a concern but you will probably be ok. I had a 72 13 that was a tiller handle boat. I had a 93 40hp johnson that was heavy and a 2hp susuki trolling motor and the boat was ok but i allways felt it was too rear heavy. But if your sitting up near wheel you should be ok. And if you can move fuel tanks in bow and even the battery you will be ok. joe
