I believe they are called norman pins but does anyone know where I can find replacement Norman Pins for the port and starboard side of my new to me 1962 13 whaler? Advice appreciated.

I believe they are chrome over brass now but if you want to keep the boat
authentic you can always strip the chrome.

John -
Are you sure on the chrome? In all my years of looking at older whalers, all the norman pins looked like a dull, weathered, brass finish.

My experience has been also that these pins are brass without a chrome surface, however, you may have encountered an exception to the rule. You could do one of the following:
1) Call a dealer and purchase a replacement. This will most likely be a brass item.
2) Take your pin, put it in the chuck of your bench motor or hand drill and spin it up and sand it. This is easy to do and it really gives a touch of class look to that bow area.
3) Send out what you have to be rechromed.
Suggest that you at least look at your pin after sanding and polishing it. Since this needs to be done anyway to rechrome it, you've got nothing to lose. Hey, if you like it, the job cost you nothing but elbow grease.
Good Luck,
Grady

My comment was I believe they are chrome over brass now, I know they were plain brass on the older whalers.
