Hello,

I have a 1996 Evinrude 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, 70 HP outboard. I need to replace the piston rings and probably the pistons. I am toying with the idea of trying to do it myself. I have rebuilt several car engines, motorcycle engines, etc. just never an outboard, and never a 2 cycle.

Have any of you done this with this engine? I don't have the manual, so I am trying to determine if I should attempt it myself or let a mechanic/shipyard ($$$$!!!) do it.

It doesn't seem like a big job to me, but never having done it I could be wrong.

Any advice would be appreciated.
