I looked at this boat today.

There is no serial # on the transon or anywhere else. It was been painted over I guess. I have a few questions.
1. Is this boat really a Boston Whaler or a clone?
2. There is a lot of 'spider cracking' on the inside of the boat is this repairable?
3. The boat also has all of the wood(restored) and hardware and a johnson 28hp engine that runs. everything is included to make this thing run but it needs major TLC. Is it worth $1300.

I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and enjoy tinkering with stuff. The epoxy patch on the transom and the cracking of the gel coat worries me. The boat seems bone dry but has a lot of peeling paint the onwer did 8 years ago.

I just hate to see an old classic die. Thanks for all the info.

It's a whaler. I'd say it's worth the money, just getting wood cost you quite a bit these days. It's all a labor of love though. The serial number is under that gray crap on the transom if you can get it off.Cool

Offer the guy $1,000 cash, he'll probably take it. Looks like a pre-1972 model....maybe earlier.

By looking at the old brass d-ring your next Whaler may have the serial number in the front locker. If it has been painted you would have to sand the paint off to the find the number. A new set of wood for a 13' is about $500. If the motor runs it sounds like a good deal. Good Luck.

that whaler is going to have the serial number in the middle of the transom just above that lip under the epoxy. do some light sanding and you should be able to recover it.
