I know this topic is of great debate, but I have decided to put a bilge pump on my 13 sport. My father in law and I are both 220+ then with the 4 stroke and battery and fuel added to choppy days on the water, having a bilge pump just makes more sense to me. My question is how have people attached the bilge pump in their 13's? I have looked at the wood locating diagrams buy there is no wood to screw the pump into and I am reluctant to screw into the gelcoat/fiberglass. I was considereing an adhesive but wanted to asked what others have done so I dont have to reinvent the wheel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
When I was installing rod holders on my 22' centre consol (not a whaler) we put 3M, 5200 sealant on the holders and set them in place. A swarm of mosquitoes came down thatevening and we retreated to the bar. Well the rod holders have been there for over 9 years now and we have not used anything to hold them in other than the 3M- 5200. Decide where you want to locate the pump, clean the surface, put four dabs of 5200 on the pump tray and set a six-pack of beers on top to hold in place. After 12 hours drink the beers and set the pump in the tray. Cheers! B)
